Dear Bookworms,
It was so nice to see everyone on Monday. Those who didn’t attend, we missed you. Thank you, Lourdes, for coming and joining us, even though you had dinner plans with your friends. I also would like to welcome our new members Sandra and Dee (hope I spelt it right). Nice getting to know you both!
Our discussions ranged from personal to book related. It’s always nice to catch up and get to see how each of us is doing. Our prayers go out to Irene’s husband and Miggy’s daughter for a speedy recovery.
I’m glad the book was enjoyed by everyone. I chose this book because when I read the back cover about Mikaela being in a coma, it made me think of my nephew John. He too was in a coma when I had started to read the book. Thankfully he is recovering everyday.
When Mikaela, beloved wife and mother of two, falls into a coma, it is up to her husband, Liam, to hold the family together, to care for their grieving, frightened children. Day after day, he sits by her bedside, telling stories of the precious life they have built, hoping, always hoping, that she will wake up. Then he discovers evidence of her first marriage to Julian True. It was said in our group his name was an oxymoron, since he wasn't a true individual.

Liam, on the other hand, was a kind and loving man. He would do anything to wake his wife up, even if it meant losing her to her true love. Some of us thought we too would make that sacrifice if it was to save our spouse. Others thought that would be too difficult to do!
This book kept us on our toes wondering if Mikaela would go back to the life she once had. I think the consensus was she would be foolish to leave a man like Liam.
All the best to you,
Millie

Hello Bookworms,
ReplyDeleteIt was so nice to have you with us Millie. Thank you for hosting. We missed. I enjoyed your delicious chocolate bars. I pray that your nephew gets stronger and stronger each day. I also continue to lift up in prayer fro health and healing, Irene's husband and Miggy's daughter. It was great to see Lourdes!! We have missed you!! So funny! I did enjoy the book very much. It was a huge selfless sacrifice that Liam did in contacting his wife's first true love. That's true love. In the end faithful enduring love perseveres. I hope you enjoy May, and I look forward to seeing you in June. Can't believe I am saying June. Be Blessed Ladies and Happy Mother's Day!!
Love,
Mary
Hello Bookworms,
ReplyDeleteGreat to see everyone and meet 2 new members.
Turns out Sandra's daughter went to school with my daughter Jennifer and recently hung out with her. SMALL WORLD!!!!!
Enjoyed the book, so thankful for health. It's incredible how family life can be affected in a split of a second. Glad Liam was such a supportive husband so willing to do anything to bring his wife back to the life they had. Happy Mother's Day to all and hope to see you in June.
XooX, Maria
Hiya Bookworms!
ReplyDeleteGlad to be back at Blu Fig discussing a book I enjoyed a lot. Thank you, Millie, for choosing another Kristin Hannah book. I really do like her writing. Millie, the chocolates were yummy -- and the wine. ONE MORE MEETING AND WE'VE DONE 8 YEARS!! WOW!
XXOO & Love,
Robin L.
Dear Bookworms,
ReplyDeleteSorry I took so long to enter this. I had a whirlwind of a trip and with grandbaby-sitting I finally now have the chance to tell you this.
One of many blessings of my trip was being able to see you all together, even if it was so brief a visit. The book was an easy read and entertaining. I loved Liam! Thank you Millie for hosting and letting me crash your meeting. I'm so glad you held it at The Blu Fig. Felt like old times, though I did miss not eating their Southwestern salad! I hope your nephew continues to improve Millie, and that Pat is also better.
Robin, once again, your videos and research are amazing!
It was so great seeing you all! Wish I could have been there for Maria's book, but I'll stay in touch via the blog entries.
Love you all! You have served as such an inspiration to me! Lourdes
