This month for our book we read The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins. The
book intrigued us with a murder mystery, with several twists and many
characters with secrets. The story takes place in a quiet suburban town
where the main character Rachel (the alcoholic) witnesses a murder.
Rachel doesn't seem to remember all the details of what she has
witnessed. This sets off a whole sequence of events.
We had fun
discussing themes such as alcoholism, adultery, hypnotism,
friendship & murder. We enjoyed our usual restaurant, Blu Fig.
Everyone was able to order their favorite meal, with a little wine and
chocolate too! As always we caught up with each other's lives. This is
always the wonderful part of our book club, to keep in touch.
Happy Holidays To All,
Yvette
Hi Lovely Ladies,
ReplyDeleteAs usual always a pleasure to hang with my book worm friends. Thank you Yvette for hosting. The chocolates were a sweet treat and the appetizers were good. I do enjoy Blu Fig. I found the book intriguing and it did captivate my curiosity to keep reading. I was a little surprised to find the true murderer. Have a Blessed Christmas and Happy
Hanukkah! Look forward to seeing everyone in 2016!

I really enjoyed the book Yvette. I wish I had been in on the discussion of the characters. Maybe there will be a sequel because too much is left up in the air. I don't know if Rachel will ever be able to find happiness. Glad her mother helped her out. And Scott turned out to be a real jerk also. Tom...deserved what he got. And Anna...what a b---ch!
ReplyDeleteWish you all a happy 2016! I see Maria joined the club--great! Love, Lourdes
Thanks for hosting Yvette. I love mysteries. wish we read more of them. This one kept me guessing as to who done it!! I guess too much drinking can really cloud your mind. Kind of scary. Thanks for all the goodies Yvette.
ReplyDeleteLove you all, Maria Rego
