Wined and Dined by Mary Velez January 12, 2015

Hi Lovely Ladies!

I was so glad and relieved that the weather let up and we were able to have our book club time together,  which I do cherish! Everyone was there, except for Carmen who was surely missed!
This is such a vibrant and passion filled book club. You are all dynamic and beautiful soul-ful women. I appreciate you all and "I thank my God Upon every remembrance of you!" Phil 1v3
This book, A Year By The Sea, Thoughts Of An Unfinished Woman, gave us the opportunity to reflect on the beauty and strength of womanhood. We engaged through journal reflection the importance of nurturing ourselves.  We answered questions and reflected on quotes that tugged on our need, desire to experience solitude, embrace our dreams and live life to the fullest -- without losing ourselves, but in actuality finding ourselves. It encouraged us to be mindful of our need to do something that pleases our spirit. We all give so much to others and we cannot ignore the importance of seeking a relationship with ourselves.
As this new year 2015 is upon us, I pray that God will bless you and fill you with the desires of your heart! Be blessed book worms and never lose sight that you are not alone and are loved and supported by many.
I look forward to next month, where Miggy will host The Rosie Effect by Graeme Simsion, on Monday, February 2nd.
Enjoy!
Mary

  1. Dear Mary and Lovely Ladies,
I so very much enjoyed seeing you all again after missing two meetings. This book reminds us that we are yet unfinished and can re-invent our lovely selves. What hope this gives!! I have been so afraid of the changes coming in my own life, but ...onward! And look forward to what is to come!
Mary, you have outdone yourself again! Thank you for having chosen this book as it gives such a positive message to all of us undergoing transitions. You are such a lovely lady, inside and out, and I know your spirit will shine brighter than ever. Thank you, not only for the great food, the great environment, and mostly for the love with which you served us.
Robin, this is the best video so far. How did you come up with the great beach scenes in the background, so quickly? You are so talented! The music and the pictures chosen really captured the book and discussion. Thank you for all your leadership and artistry in making our book club so great.
Thank you to all the Lovely Ladies who I,ve grown to love and so enjoy listening to and sharing with.
    Love, Lourdes

  2. Hi Bookworms!

First, thank you Mary for the special evening you gave us. It was really so creative and thoughtful of you - from the tablecloths, to the journals, to the food and wine -- it was all just lovely. You are a very special person, and I am grateful you joined the book club over 6 1/2 years ago!

Ladies, keep it up! It's so much more meaningful when we have all read the book, and when we are all present. Don't put yourselves last at the bottom of the caretaking list. You can't take care of others, if you haven't first taken care of yourself.

Happy new year everyone. Looking forward to some good lols with the next book, THE ROSIE EFFECT.

  3. Dear Mary,
I was just remembering the lovely evening we had when you hosted and looked back at the blog and noticed that I had not written, so here I am now. Thank you for all your thoughtful details and for making us all feel so special. I loved your new venue and hope we can meet there again.
I enjoyed the book and found many opportunities to reflect on our lives as women. We all go through our ups and downs but it is going forward that will make the difference in our relationships with the people we love.
It's amazing how much closer we have all become in our relationships with each other and how we look forward to each month.
Thanks again for all the goodies.
    XXOO, Maria R
