LOURDES & IRENE HOSTING!

It was such a pleasure to have you all in my house for our meeting! Irene and I hope you enjoyed the food and felt relaxed as we shared. The food included angel hair pasta, angel food cake, angel wing cookies, a heavenly red velvet cake, and more (plus wine).

Although there were varied opinions on the book, it led to a lively discussion where all had something to say. We shared personal experiences and quotes from Scripture. The basic message from the book is that there are angels all around us and we should ask them for help. We disagreed as to how believable Lorna Byrne's story is...about her seeing spirits and so many angels. The story did serve to inspire us to look further into our own faith, and thus served one of her purposes. You can go on youtube.com and hear Lorna Byrne speak on several video interviews.

I, personally, find hope in knowing that I do not walk alone, and that my loved ones have guardian angels around them. Thank you for recommending this book, Irene!! It helped me.

ANGEL HAIR PASTA WITH ZUCCHINI

Heat up olive oil (EVOO)in pan.
Slice zucchini into thin slices and fry in hot oil until crispy (be sure to flip)
When you flip zucchini, at that point add
diced garlic, basil, oregano, salt & pepper.
You can just add this over cooked angel hair pasta, or add vegetables (i.e. broccoli, peas, carrots, sundried tomatoes, red pepper.
Add the veggies and oil to the angel hair and sprinkle with grated Parmesan. Enjoy!!
(Serves 2)

  1. Dear Lourdes & Irene,
What great ideas you had for this book - so creative with your angel wing cookies, and angel hair pasta. Although I did not care for the book at all, I am glad it brought me closer to God in my own way, and I learned new things about my religion because of research I wanted to do for the meeting. The meeting was very special, and thank you both!

  2. Dear Lourdes and Irene,
Thank you for hosting yet another wonderful and enlightening book club meeting. All the angel-related food was scrumptious and the company was “heavenly”. Our discussion of the book was open and honest, and it allowed us to express our different views of angels and other supernatural entities regardless of our upbringings and religious backgrounds. Although I thought Lorna Byrne was a little bit over the top with the preponderance of angels in her life, I felt she was successful in sending the message that we don’t walk alone in life. It’s reassuring to know that we have angels guarding us through our journey in life.

"See, I am sending an angel before you, to guard you on the way and bring you to the place I have prepared” Exodus 23:20

  3. Hi Lourdes and Irene,
What an engaging meeting! I really think our book club is very unique. We have a bunch of incredible woman with various backgrounds and experiences that bring charisma, passion and true heart to the sessions. Then we add incredible creativity to our hosting with delightful foods that follow the theme of the book. Oprah eat your heart out. We should all be a guest on her show. I was so invigorated by the sharing. This was an interesting book. First couple of pages into the book, I questioned the credibility of this author. I thought either she is completely mad or she has a unique gift\blessing. I also felt the book was a little too outrageous to the point where her encounters with angels became insignificant. BUT I definitely reflected on the power of God, that again our human minds cannot even begin to comprehend the vastness of His abilities and might. So thank you for sharing and being open to various beliefs. May angels continue to be among you!
Thank you for hosting this meeting. The spread was scrumptious!! The angel hair pasta was delectable and the desserts followed suit.
Your home is beautiful. I love your blue roof.
Irene you are very sweet and angelic yourself.
I look forward to next month.
    Affectionately,
    Mary

  4. Dea Irene & Lourdes,
Thank you for the opportunity to get together as friends, colleagues and women who can share their thoughts openly. Although at times I felt that the book we read was a bit quirky the underlying message is universal. We are not alone nor should we ever feel that we are because we all have angels that watch over us no matter what religion or belief we may have. I learned that I should perhaps be more mindful of the messages that are given to me in various situations. I also feel that we were able to share the fact that at times we have had angels intercede in our lives but we were perhaps afraid to acknowledge this and brushed it off as a coincidence. I feel comforted that there are angels out there to watch over all of us.
Thank you both for the effort and time in making this another successful event from start to finish.
    Love, Maria R.
