The Four Winds by Kristen Hannah
We met OUTDOORS and in person -- HURRAY - at The Blu Fig in New City to discuss The Four Wind sby Kristin Hannah. Ten of us showed us - yay ...

Three cheers for The Red Tent and Womanhood! Nicole and Tracy, thank you so much for making the experience so authentic with such fabulous setting, costumes and food. I think we all truly experienced the flavor and message of the book. I enjoyed reading every page!
ReplyDeleteBoy...you guys are a tough act to follow!
Maria
Shalom Nicole and Tracy!
ReplyDeleteI loved your flavors and costumes as part of our discussion. It reminded me of some of my most fun times in my daughter's mother daughter book club, in which we would always get into acting out, dressing up, and totally enjoying physically and mentally various aspects of the book.
Todah Rabah (thank you very much in Hebrew!) --
Robin
Reading the Red Tent gave me an opportunity to look deeper into the relationships between mothers and daughters and how emotions play such a great part in our lives. I enjoyed looking to the bible for differences and similarities. Thank you Trace and Nicole for your effort in making it an authentic experience with props and food and discussions. The ambiance set the tone for our discussions and made me truly wonder what life was like back then. I look forward to our book club meeting for years to come.
ReplyDeleteWhat an enchanting evening!! I really felt we were transformed into the biblical times of the Middle East. The ambiance was so warm and inviting. Such a closeness amongst these women was evident in the book, they took care of eachother and were very supportive. That is how I feel about you book club ladies. You are all so interesting and supportive of one another. Our book club became synonomous with the Red Tent, we all became preoccupied and concerned whether Maria was ok. Our gathering was extended into two rooms with the exotic looking silks and cloths and pillows on the floor. It was so much fun. Needless to say the food was scrumptious. I already made the chick pea recipe. I can't wait to try the Cous Cous recipe. Tracy and Nicole, you were fabulous hostesses. Thank You for making this book club meeting extremely memorable.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to the next book!
I loved the Red Tent! I talk to the ladies at Church about it, and to any other ladies I meet. It brought the New Testament days to life for me. And then the setting Nicole and Tracy gave us was magnificent. Other book club readers tell me they want to join our club because theirs do none of these: settings, food, good talk. Thank you to Nicole and Tracy. Thank you to Robin and Diana for establishing this club. I can see this group reading and growing old together. We don't seem to tire discussing all the issues of prejudism, sexism, and romance which have appeared in all of the books we've read so far. Love our club!!!
